Phantom Tag Protector Anti Photo License Plate Covers Compatibility With Custom Vanity License Plates.

Phantom Tag Protector anti photo license plate covers are design to be compatible with US, CAD, and MEX license plates. However, the amount of characters on a particular license plate, and the locations of these characters can positively or negatively affects the anti photo effectiveness of an installed phantom tag protector.

As our well informed customers are aware of, Phantom Tag Protector anti photo, video, and scanner features works on an angular principle. If a phantom tag protector equipped automobile travels by a traffic camera positioned on the

left side of the roadway, then the characters on the left side of this vehicle's license plate will be blurred or disguised to photograph, video recording, or scanning. The opposite characters will be blurred/distorted if the traffic camera happens to be on the right side of the roadway. However, regardless of which side, the blurring will always starts

from the outer edge of the license plate and continue towards the opposite side of the license plate. Whether the blurring will only extend to the characters on the outer edge, or to the center, or all the way across to the other side of the license plate, is dependent on the angular degree at the traffic camera is in relationship the vehicle's license plate. I know that this can be a bit confusing, so for greater understanding, we recommend that our "how product works?" page and our phantom tag protector defensive driving technique blog post be reviewed.

Once the above information on the angular principle by which phantom tag protector anti photo feature works, one can see why having custom license plates with only centered and limited characters may not be compatible with our phantom tag protector anti photo license plate covers. Take for instance, a customized license plate with only one or two characters position in the center of the license plate. In this case, there are no characters on either the left or the right side of the license plate to be disguised. Therefore, our phantom tag protector would only work with such a custom license plate in the rare instances where the entire license plate is completely disguised. In most

instances, traffic camera positioned at the left rear of this vehicle will still be able to clearly view these centered characters on this license plate. Similarly, cameras positioned at the right rear of this vehicle will still be able to view these centered license plate characters. Only in the rare instances when the angular degree of a traffic camera location in relation to the position of this vehicle is such that the entire license plate is completely disguised.

A full understanding of how our Phantom Tag Protector anti photo license plate covers work will correctly leads one to assume that the more characters there are on a license plate, the more effective an installed Phantom Tag Protector

will be. This is correctly the case, because what the angular degree of a traffic camera in relation to the position of an phantom tag protector equipped vehicle is, at least one or two characters of such vehicle's license plate will be blurred and/or disguised.

Now that we're aware that some custom license plate design can pose a challenge to the effectiveness of phantom tag protector anti photo feature, here are some design recommends that will enhance the effectiveness, rather than impede it. 1). The more letters and/or numbers on your custom license plate the better. No less than three characters are recommended; 2). Insure that there is at least one character positioned on the left and right side of the license plate; 3). If there is an image, such as a bird or logo, this is best placed in the center of the license plate. The reason being, the center of the plate is the spot least likely to be blurred/disguised by a Phantom Tag Protector, and such images aren't utilize by traffic cameras in identifying automobiles. However, if it happens to be an image that's unique to your license plate, then it can be used to possibly identify your vehicle during the advance investigative techniques previously discussed.

Let's recap, if your custom license plate has centered and limited characters, our product might not be best suitable in protecting your license plate privacy. In designing a custom license plate that is highly compatibly with our anti photo phantom tag protector, one should include as many characters as possible, and each end of such license plate should be occupied by at least one character, and image/logo should be place at the center of such custom license plate.
